Lesson 3 - Climate Change and our Watersheds

In our first two videos, Know Your Watershed Educator Dave Quinn introduced us to the KYW program, watersheds in general, and the various nutrient cycles that take place in our watersheds. In this lesson we will explore how climate change, one of the biggest challenges facing the planet, is affecting all our watersheds.

In this short video, Winlaw-based Know Your Watershed Educator Shanoon Bennett looks at some of the dramatic effects of climate change being felt in watersheds across the Columbia Basin.

Then the lesson plan will lead you through a short activity to help you better understand some of the causes of, symptoms of, and solutions to climate change that are present right in our very own watersheds.
