Join Wildsight Kimberley Cranbrook for a volunteer apple pressing event on Sunday, September 19 from 11 am to 2 pm in Kimberley!

The East Kootenays is home to many fruit trees but when the fruit is left to fall off the tree and rot, it attracts local wildlife including deer and bears. Wildsight’s Apple Capture program helps locals keep up with their fruit harvest and share the bounty with those who can use it.

With the help of volunteers to pick and press these apples, we can turn a wildlife attractant into a local and nutritious source of food! Last year, our volunteers picked almost 3000 lbs of apples and pressed a lot of it into juice! Bring your family and friends—apples too, if you’ve got them—and containers to take some of that sweet nectar home with you when we’re done.

What to bring:
Bring snacks, water, and be sure to dress for the weather!

In addition to apple picking and pressing events, the Wildsight Kimberley Cranbrook Apple Capture Program lends out any apple harvest equipment local residents might need to prune, pick, juice, dry, or sauce your fruit tree harvest (book here). We also have a Tree Share Board accessible to those with a fruit tree they don’t have time to harvest and those looking for fruit trees to pick.
