Community-Driven Climate Action

The Climate Pledge

Community-Driven Climate Action for a Resilient Columbia Valley

Wildsight Invermere’s Climate Pledge empowers citizens to take action to reduce personal and community greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and counteract climate change. We know that climate change is one of the most pressing issues of our time, but the scale of the problem can leave us feeling overwhelmed and underqualified to tackle such a huge issue.

Raising our Voices for a Climate Resilient Future

The Pledge dispels the ‘doom and gloom’ narrative by offering inspiring hands-on activities and events that engage all demographics – from students to young families, Indigenous communities, faith groups, business leaders and retirees. The Climate Pledge is designed to bring everyone to the table.

We all have different ability levels, and circumstances, which determine the extent to which we can take advantage of options like active transportation, renewable energy and locally grown food. That’s why the Pledge will highlight accessible, positive lifestyle changes that are friendly for all.

Through fun and engaging activities, we’ll work to re-frame the dialogue around climate change adaptation and mitigation as a ‘sacrifice’ to an improved quality of life for all – human and non-human alike!

Signing the Pledge is not intended to be an easy out. It is an act of commitment that creates personal accountability to our community through tangible, targeted emissions reduction.

Sign the Pledge Today!

Global Climate Strike in Downtown Invermere (2019): 200 people joined young climate activists on the streets to demand an end to the age of fossil fuels. Individuals stepped forward to share messages about climate change, opportunities for action, and their vision for the future.
