Cranbrook and Kimberley are home to many fruit trees and the harvest season is around the corner. Help us ensure that local fruit is diverted from going to the landfill or becoming wildlife attractants by volunteering at one of our Pick or Press events!

Through the Apple Capture program last year, together with the help of volunteers, we picked 2,347 lbs. of fruit from 34 yards. Much of this was stored at the Healthy Kimberley Food Recovery Depot, who utilized 657 lbs. of those apples. We also pressed about 1,690 lbs. of apples into 175 litres of juice with the help of 150 participants. Some of this juice went home with volunteers while some was donated to Food Recovery. Over 200 lbs. of mash and apple waste were donated to local farmers for animal feed.

We’re now seeking volunteers for this year’s Pick and Press events! Please find event details and a registration link below.
