On a warm spring evening last week, twenty community members gathered beneath the shade of the community garden gazebo for Wildsight Kimberley / Cranbrook’s 2026 AGM and garden work party.
With warmer weather finally arriving, the evening offered the perfect opportunity to reconnect, reflect, and roll up our sleeves.
Getting down to business
The 2026 AGM opened with regular business, including a president’s report that reinforced our branch’s continuing focus on community engagement, collaboration, and resilience.
We shared the strategic plan that’s been in development to guide our branch over the next five years. The plan outlines a vision that sees our programs evolving and expanding around deeper community relationships.
Branch Manager Andrea Chapman also recapped several highlights from 2025, including the acquisition of new equipment for the Apple Capture program and the expansion of other programs, including Farmer’s Market development led by Sparta Humphries and the creation of a new pre-teen age group for Camp Odyssey by Kim Urbaniak. The branch celebrated a sold-out Banff World Tour fundraiser in January and shared growing plans for a special Summit Screening to be held on September 19, 2026.
Last but not least, eight returning board members have maintained their positions through acclamation and deserve congratulations for their many contributions!

Digging deeper
With the AGM adjourned, a lively and celebratory mood filled the Kimberley Community Garden as participants grazed on shared treats, pulled on gloves, grabbed tools, and got to work in the Kimberley Community Garden.
Conversation flowed as volunteers worked side by side to weed perennial beds and pathways, the atmosphere buzzing with conversation and ideas. Before long, the group had amassed over five wheelbarrows of weeds and unwanted grass—a huge help in getting the garden ready for the upcoming growing season.
When the mosquitoes finally made an unexpected appearance, everyone agreed it was time to wrap up a successful AGM and garden work party.
