Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival is one of the largest and most prestigious mountain festivals in the world. Held every fall from Banff, Canada, the 2020 Festival went virtual for the first time in its 45-year history. Following in the Festival’s footsteps the 2020-21 World Tour is hitting the virtual road and heading to living rooms in Kimberley and Cranbrook!
“The COVID-19 pandemic has created extraordinary circumstances around the world and many screenings of the live World Tour had to be postponed or cancelled. Fortunately, Banff Centre is bringing us the Festival virtually. We can’t necessarily replicate the experience of seeing the Banff films on the big screen, but are very excited to have a curated program of amazing outdoor films that will definitely bring that same level of inspiration and excitement,” said Pegg Davidson, Wildsight Kimberley Cranbrook Volunteer and longstanding Organising Committee Member.
From over 400 entries submitted into the Festival each year, award-winning films and audience favourites are carefully selected to travel the globe. This year’s tour will feature a collection of the most inspiring action, environmental, and adventure films, curated into online programs to be enjoyed from the comforts of home.
“At Wildsight Kimberley Cranbrook we are so lucky to have been able to bring this amazing event to our area for over 25 years. This year things will look a bit different, but the energy and enthusiasm for this Festival is still very much alive and well. I encourage everyone who has attended the event in the past or anyone who is interested in experiencing the Festival to grab tickets, organise your bubble and watch these amazing films at home,” said Corrine Highwood, Interim Branch Manager, Wildsight Kimberley Cranbrook.
