Summer Environmental Education Coordinator – Get Wild! Summer Day Camp
Position Description:
Wildsight Golden is looking for a highly motivated and organized individual to act as a coordinator for the GET WILD! Summer Camp.
The Youth Environmental Education Coordinators’ work will be to develop and run the GET WILD! Summer Day Camp with assistance, and under the guidance of the Branch Manager and the Wildsight Golden Board of Directors. The coordinator will develop a program of activities for the camp that are fun, safe and keep the camp mission as a focus: to inspire youth to connect with our community and nature with fun inclusive outdoor activities.
They will plan, coordinate and run the camp, including following the safety plan, volunteer coordination, schedule of activities, weekly trips, transportation and camp supplies. They will work as a team with, mentor and supervise a camp counsellor to run the camp.
The coordinator will be expected to maintain records, treat all information and materials in a confidential manner, comply with all applicable laws and communicate with parents, board and other staff effectively.
About GET WILD! Summer Day Camp:
Wildsight Golden is a non-profit environmental organization whose main goal is to work to maintain biodiversity and healthy human communities in and around our region. The GET WILD! Summer day camp provides an environment and outdoor education program for children from ages 6-10. The camp prides itself with its ‘learning by doing’ education style, local collaborations and projects.
This summer camp is all about spending the whole day outdoors (rain or shine) and leading children through experiential learning day to day. It’s meant to be super fun and inspiring for both staff and campers, a time to connect with the environment and Golden’s community. Camp staff foster healthy relationships with campers and guide them in playful days spent with friends.
Requirements:
- Must have experience working with children
- Must have experience organizing programs
- Must have an interest in environmental education.
Assets include:
- Holding a driver’s license
- First aid training
- Outdoor skill certificates
Terms of Employment:
- Location is in person in Golden, BC. The work will be performed all around the community including in Area A.
- 35 hours per week, starting June 16 until August 27. Core hours are 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM Monday to Friday. Camp will run for 7 weeks.
- Compensation is $25.25/hour
- If you are selected for this position and are over 18 years of age you must submit a Criminal Record Check to Wildsight Golden by June 27, 2025.
