Explore the incredible ecology of the Creston Valley on a fun and educational guided nature walk suitable for all ages. Join us Sunday, June 22 from 9–11am for a walk led by retired forester and Wildsight Creston Director, Jim Smith.

The hike begins in Canyon on a trail system built by Jim and Sandy Smith, weaving through 115-year-old fir, larch, and cedar forests. We’ll cross Camp Run Creek to reach Cottonwood Island, a rich riparian area along the Goat River and a haven for wildlife, including species at risk.

This beautiful island features towering cottonwoods growing where enormous cedar trees once stood, with their stumps still visible from logging over 140 years ago. Along the way, we’ll learn about the unique plant life and ecological significance of the area.

Please wear long pants as we may encounter stinging nettles. Bring water and a snack!

We look forward to sharing this special place with you!
