This position has been filled.
Are you a college student looking for a part-time job during the school year? Wildsight is looking for a Communications Intern to work with us from now to April. This position is still open.
You’ll be working with our communications team, and the rest of the Wildsight team in Kimberley and throughout the Kootenays, to help spread Wildsight’s message and fundraise to support our work. The work will be varied and depends somewhat on the skills you bring to the job. You can expect to help with local events, work in our database, help with fundraising and communicating with donors, generally help out in our office, and more. Other work could include social media and website, writing, editing and proofreading, video editing or graphic design, depending on the skills or experience you bring to the table. You’ll also have a chance to learn about some of the many areas in which Wildsight works to protect wild places, get our kids learning in the wild and inspire youth to tackle climate change.
We are happy for you to work from home and fit the work into your class schedule as you see fit. Ideally, you’d be able to come into our Kimberley office occasionally (or more frequently if you like), but for the right candidate, we would consider someone in the West Kootenay as well. We understand that sometimes studying for your exams is more important than your job.
You should:
- Be enrolled in a full-time post-secondary program for 2024/25
- Be self-motivated, independent, and able to work on multiple projects
- Pay attention to detail
- Have a passion for the wild
Ideally, you:
- Have a knowledge of environmental issues in British Columbia and in the Kootenays
- Have good language skills including editing, proofreading and writing
- Have social media, graphic design or video experience
Hours: an average of about 8-10 hours per week for the school year (until April), with flexibility to work more or less at different times.
Wage: $22/hour
Job Location: Columbia Basin, BC
Please send your resume to lars@wildsight.ca. We will conduct rolling interviews until the position is filled.
Wildsight is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion in our hiring processes and work environment and we encourage women, people of colour, people of Indigenous ancestry and LGBTQ2+ individuals to apply.
