2020 is the sixth annual year that Wildsight Golden has hosted the GET WILD! summer outdoor environmental education camp for the children and youth of Golden and area. Participants will learn more about local ecosystems through play and exploration. The camp runs weekly.
This children’s camp with participants from 6 to 10 years of age will run in July and August. This program is for those parents who want their children to be outside and come home dirty, happy, tired and excited.
Activities include: nature discovery and adventure games, local hikes, bird-watching, community gardening, take home art from nature, sports, community volunteering, music and drama, survival skills, and much more outdoor fun!
We have implemented Covid 19 safety protocols for this summer. We will ensure that all GETWILD! equipment is sanitized, implement physical distancing, have no tolerance for any symptoms of illness for either staff or campers, and we will have plenty of hand sanitizer and soap on hand. Our councillors will be well versed in Public Health protocols and we will run the camp safely.
We are hopeful that the children’s camp will include a field trip each Thursday where we go on a full day field trip to a local attraction such as Wapta Falls, Organic Sports Ranch, Cedar Lake and Kicking Horse Mountain Resort depending on the direction received from the Public Health Officer.
Children camp dates for the 2020 summer are: July 6-10, July 13-17, July 20-24, July 27-31, Aug 4-7, Aug 10-14, August 17-21 and August 24 – 28, from 9 am to 3 pm. Kids can sign up week by week, or drop in per day for a fraction of the cost! The cost for one week is $200.00 with a $10 one time registration fee per family. If you cannot make it to a full week of camp drop-in is $55.00/day or $75.00/day for field trips. Spots are limited per week so sign up now!
