Wildsight seeks environmental educators in Invermere and Golden

Wildsight has been delivering environmental education programs in schools throughout the Columbia Basin for 17 years. We have 5 programs customized for youth from kindergarten to grade 10. We are seeking environmental educators to deliver our Winter Wonder, Classroom with Outdoors, Beyond Recycling and Know Your Watershed programs in Invermere and Golden for the 2017-18 school year. These are contract positions and will depend on the specific programs delivered, but would include 100-200 hours per year, with rates varying from $25 to $35 per hour.

Winter Wonder is a half-day winter ecology program for kindergarten-grade 3 students.

Classroom with Outdoors is a full-day ecosystem awareness field trip for students in grades 6-8.

Know Your Watershed is a program of the Columbia Basin Trust managed and administered by Wildsight. It is a multi-day watershed-awareness program involving classroom time and field trips for grade 9 students.

Beyond Recycling is a 24-week journey into sustainability for grade 5 students. Educators visit the classroom once per week and can deliver up to 3 associated field trips.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Experience as a teacher or environmental educator
  • A passion for the environment and getting kids outside
  • Current first aid certification
  • Selected candidates must undergo a criminal record check
  • Selected candidates are expected to participate in a training session September 28-29
