Did you know that in the East Kootenays, 30% of what we throw away is compostable organic material?  Did you also know that this organic material can be turned into a very valuable resource, while also reducing our impact on our local and global environment?  Lucky for us, composting is an easy and FUN activity that anyone can start at home.

Not sure where to start? Join Nadine Rake for our Composting for Beginners workshop on Wednesday August 21 at the Kimberley Community Garden from 5:30-7 pm. You will learn the basics: how to set up a bin, ways to properly work and maintain the pile while not attracting wildlife, and how to use your compost soil. There will be an opportunity to pick up some troubleshooting tips, ask some questions, dig in to some mood-boosting composted soil; AND go home with a little compost booster of local worms (please bring your own container).

Registration is $15 per person or sign up in a group and receive $5 off each additional person! Bursaries are available by contacting Brooke at kimcranstudent@wildsight.ca.
