Cool summers, clean winters: Now’s the time to switch to a heat pump

As summer temperatures rise and winter heating bills loom just months ahead, now is the ideal time for Golden residents to consider replacing their old wood stoves with modern, energy-efficient heat pumps. Thanks to rebates from both the provincial CleanBC program and the BC Lung Foundation, making the switch is easier than ever.

Heat pumps are a smart, climate-friendly alternative to wood stoves. They provide cleaner, more efficient heating in the winter and offer the added bonus of air conditioning during the summer months – a growing necessity as our community faces increasingly hotter summers. With wildfires and heat waves becoming more common, it’s critical that residents have access to more adaptable home heating and cooling solutions.

Through CleanBC, homeowners can access substantial rebates towards the installation of a heat pump system. To make the transition even easier, Wildsight Golden is offering additional local rebates for residents who use wood as a primary source of heating and would like to transition to a less polluting heat pump system, a pellet stove or a cleaner burning wood stove, helping to offset costs further and ensure more people in our community can take advantage of cleaner technology. These rebates can be combined with other provincial and federal financial incentives designed to reduce energy consumption in our homes.

Switching from woodstoves to heat pumps also improves air quality in our valley, reducing smoke-related health issues during the colder months. It’s a change that supports both personal comfort and environmental stewardship.

Don’t wait for the next cold snap or heatwave – explore your rebate options now and learn how a heat pump can keep your home comfortable year-round.
