Carmen Dolinsky
Carmen has been drawn to the forest since her early years in the Columbia Valley. She studied Geography at the University of British Columbia Okanagan and specialized in topics of environmental education, including Mycology, Soil Science, Food Systems, Ethnoecology and Environmental Impact Assessment. Since these studies, she has taken an amateur naturalist approach to learning about the forest. This passion is fueled by her connection with nature and with health, and to this regard has a strong interest in edible and medicinal plants and fungi. In this Introduction to the Mushrooms and its relationship to Biodiversity, she explains the basic function of mushrooms, how to identify them, eat them or use them as medicine, grow them and how they are integral to forest ecology.
