Wildsight Golden and the Art Gallery of Golden are proud to present The Rare & The Ancient: Defending Golden’s Threatened Rainforest. This exhibit features over 20 local artists who speak for the forest in this collaborative, educational art display celebrating the Inland Temperate Rainforest (ITR).
Artists of all disciplines have joined together in this art display celebrating the ITR — one of the rarest ecosystems on Earth, and right here in our backyard.
This is an educational display, grounded in science and place. Each artwork will be accompanied by a short scientific statement connecting the piece to current research and local ecological knowledge. The Inland Temperate Rainforest is a living system — layered, interconnected, and often unseen. The collection of work highlights not only old-growth trees, but the full web of flora, fauna, and fungi that make this rainforest thrive.
Through art, we hope to spark curiosity, learning, and conversation about what makes this ecosystem unique — and what’s at stake.
Join us for the opening reception, dine on wine and cheese, and speak with artists on Friday, August 14, 2026 from 5 – 7 PM. This event is free to attend and all are welcome.
