The seed garden on Brenner Road is bursting with blossoms — and pollinators — as the plants mature from flowering to developing seed. Nearly 100 varieties of vegetables, herbs and edible flowers have been planted specifically to collect seeds for our Cold Climate Seed Library, and to share at our annual Seedy Saturday event. A few varieties are grown as trials from seeds brought to our seed swap (we test a few seeds from each donated variety for viability and to verify their identity).
When most of our seed plants have matured we will be hosting a tour and free hands-on workshop for anyone interested in learning more about saving seeds. This workshop will be held on Saturday, September 14, and is weather dependent.
To reduce parking problems at the site, we plan to carpool from the EcoGarden parking lot at 8:45am.
