Youth aged 15–18 are invited to join the Columbia River Field School, a 15-day summer field course this July.
In this truly immersive program, students explore the region’s history and current political landscape through lessons designed to enrich and expand understanding of the key issues facing this region. Past participants have gone on to speak at conferences, publish original writing, participate in youth summits, and become local leaders in their own communities. Many alumni are now pursuing careers in environmental science/studies, outdoor education and other conservation-related fields.
This is a critical time for the Columbia River treaty, as a renegotiated treaty in principle is expected to be released soon. The Columbia River Field School provides a strong foundation for future learning on the region’s issues, offered in a fun, interactive and exploratory way. Students also learn valuable paddling skills, no-trace camping, and develop deep and lasting relationships with other participants.
