Led by the fun and knowledgeable weed-busting folk from East Kootenay Invasive Species Council, we’ll head out on trails, shoreline or access tracks around the East side of Columbia Lake, hunting for invasive species like knapweed to pull up and bag out.

Gloves, bags and all weed-identification training and guidance will be provided, or feel free to bring your own gloves etc. It’s a chance to enjoy this beautiful area and give back at the same time. Removing invasive species helps prevent them from taking over ecosystems and crowding out native species that are forage for wildlife like the local bighorn sheep herd.

We’ll meet at the Columbia Lake Provincial Park carpark at 10am. To get there: Turn off Hwy 93/95 at the Fairmont Creek Road (across from the Riverside Golf Resort). Travel east for 0.4km. Turn right onto Columbia River Road. The park is located 1.6km south along this gravel road. Continue until the road ends in a parking lot.

The weed pull will be about 4 hours, but if you can only stay for a few hours, still feel free to join!

Online registration closes the day before the event but you can still show up without a registration.

There will be another weed pull on Thurs 26th June at Sinclair Creek in Radium. Sign up HERE
