Love the wild. Now and forever.
A legacy gift is a profound demonstration of your love for the wild, and a lasting act of hope for future generations. It’s a commitment that reaches beyond a lifetime.
Old-growth forests take centuries to mature. Healthy watersheds evolve through complex relationships, from megafauna to microorganisms, over decades. Like the landscapes we work to protect, the future we envision takes time to build, and sustained commitment from donors like you to achieve.
By including Wildsight in your planned giving, you will be helping to build that future.
Why give a legacy gift?
A legacy gift is an investment in the future of the wild. It allows you to set your intentions today for a future that matters to us all.
You can take care of your loved ones and still give; even a small percentage of your estate will help create lasting change. Legacy gifts are freely given today, and fully realized far into the future.
Gifts of securities or other capital assets in your will can also avoid significant capital gains tax on your estate.

Ways to give
Most planned gifts are designated in a will or trust, and are as flexible as you wish. There are many ways to give, including:
- A specific amount or a percentage of your estate: Leaving a specific gift may mean including a bequest in your will for a specific sum of money or a specific asset, such as art or jewelry. However, you may also choose to leave a percentage of your total estate or remaining assets (residue), which has the advantage of remaining proportional to fluctuations in the value of your estate over time.
- A residual gift: This is a direction to your executor that, once all the other specific gifts to the beneficiaries named in your Will are distributed, and all your debts are paid, the remainder (or a proportion of the remainder) of your estate will be gifted to Wildsight. A residual gift can help ensure your bequest retains or appreciates in financial value over time.
- A bequest of assets, such as stocks, bonds or mutual funds.
- Naming Wildsight as a beneficiary of your RRSP, RRIF or pension
What will your legacy protect?
A legacy gift ensures your values live on. By including Wildsight in your long-term financial planning, you will be helping protect what you love, not just now, but always.
Planning your gift
With a significant gift we recommend that you consult your financial planner and/or professional tax or legal advisor. It can also be a good idea to share your decision with your family so they understand your intentions and vision for the future.
If you’ve already included Wildsight in your Will, or you’re considering doing so, please let us know. This not only allows us to plan for the future with more confidence, it also gives you the opportunity to discuss your wishes with us.
