Another Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour has wrapped up, and we are feeling incredibly grateful for the community that continues to show up, year after year.
Once again, the Key City Theatre was buzzing for two sold-out nights of adventure, storytelling, and connection. With 12 films on the big screen, the energy in the room was palpable. The evenings were hosted by Bruce Kirkby, whose presence added a familiar and friendly face to the event.
This year’s program offered a compelling mix of global stories and close-to-home connections. A highlight was the screening of Becky Bates: Not a Running Story by Kimberley filmmakers Lukas Nemeth and Scot Proudfoot, who surprised the audience by joining Becky Bates on stage to share the origins and inspiration behind their film. Celebrating local stories alongside international films is part of what makes this event so meaningful for our community.

Our local film selection committee thoughtfully curates the program from a pre-selected list of roughly 30 films provided by the Banff Film Festival World Tour. Each year, they craft a lineup that balances different lengths, activities, and perspectives, creating two evenings of engaging, inspiring, and memorable stories for our community. Seeing the theatre full until the final credits each night is a direct reflection of the committee’s excellent curation and the quality of the films chosen.
Audience feedback continues to play a key role in shaping the event. Responses are collected from attendees and shared with the Banff World Tour team to help refine future programming, ensuring every stop on the tour continues to improve.
