Since 1950, the average size of a new single-family home in Canada has more than doubled from around 950 square feet to over 2,000 square feet. But as house prices rise and wages remain stagnant, people are looking for more affordable alternatives.  Tiny homes stand out as a promising solution to the affordable housing crisis and carbon emissions.

In conversation with Dennis Scott of Humble Bee Homes in Cranbrook, we’ll explore the possibilities and challenges of building tiny houses in the Columbia Valley, for potential first-time homeowners to downsizing retirees.

Don’t even know what a ‘tiny house’ is? Join us to find out!

(Hint, they’re a fully livable, year-round home that’s generally less than 500 sq ft floor area).

In this webinar we’ll discuss the basics of how tiny homes are designed and built, to the logistics of regulations, insurance and financing. We’ll also explore how tiny homes can help significantly reduce your ecological and carbon footprint with high energy efficiency and sustainable materials, while also being budget-friendly.
