The United Nations observes March 21 as the International Day of Forests, commemorating the green cover around the world and reiterating its importance. The theme for each International Day of Forests is chosen by the Collaborative Partnership on Forests. The theme for 2022 is “Forests and sustainable production and consumption.”
New research from Northern Arizona University shows rising temperatures are causing Earth’s coldest forests to shift northward, raising concerns about biodiversity, an increased risk of wildfires and mounting impacts of climate change on northern communities.
We will be showing three short films that night to raise awareness to the plight of our forests on the Planet!
1) The Lost Forest – Africa (Trailer)
2) Giant Tree Hunters – Canada (Trailer)
3) Fools & Dreamers – New Zealand – (Trailer)
Brush up on your Tree Knowledge as there will be quizzes between the films with books as prizes!
