BC Rivers Day Community Paddles

Saturday, September 25, 2021 - Sunday, September 26, 2021
Golden Branch
Location:
Cedar Lake and the Columbia River

Since 1980, thousands of British Columbians have celebrated BC Rivers Day on the fourth Sunday of September each year, making it Canada’s largest river appreciation event. These independently hosted events throughout the province celebrate and build public awareness for British Columbia’s waterways.

Our home in Golden is placed strategically on two rivers with Heritage Status. We encourage everyone to celebrate our rivers.

We have two awesome days planned.

Saturday, September 25 – Paddling Skills 101

Join certified trainers and volunteers, Kate and Nils to learn how to paddle a canoe or upgrade your canoe paddling skills. Sessions will be one-on-one (or in family groups).  Canoes will be provided.

And/Or, join certified trainer and volunteer, Lolli  to learn to paddle a SUP or upgrade your SUP paddling skills. These will be group sessions and we can take a maximum of 6 people. Bring your own SUP or use one of HIgher Ground’s.

All sessions will take place at Cedar Lake.

These sessions will cost $5/person or $10 per family. Funds will go to support Wildsight Golden programs.  Pre-registration is required. Email golden@wildsight.ca to register.

Sunday, September 26 – BC River’s Day

Join Wildsight Golden in a community paddle on the Columbia River beginning at Nicholson Bridge at 2 PM, we will paddle to Confluence Park. Shuttling will be up to the individuals, but there will likely be opportunities to car-pool. Please indicate if you can provide a ride to Wildsight Golden by email and we will try to link people up.
