Job Posting: Wildsight Revelstoke Monitoring Technician

Job Description: The Wildsight Revelstoke Monitoring Technician position is a 8-10 week role starting at the end of May 2026. The Technician will work with the Branch Manager and Turtle Conservation Revelstoke to run Wildsight Revelstoke’s riparian monitoring program for Western toads and Western Painted turtles. Through visual surveys and video footage they will monitor toad migration and turtle nesting behaviours and patterns, then process and format the data from the 2026 season and share key findings with the community. Candidates must be under 30 and a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person with refugee protection in Canada.

Position Type: 30hr/week, 8-10 week (funding dependent)

Location: Revelstoke, BC

Hourly Rate: $30/hr

Start Date: May 25th 2026 

Responsibilities: 

  • Carry out visual surveys of toad migrations and turtle nesting behaviours
  • Install trail cams and review video footage
  • Coordinate nesting site maintenance with Turtle Conservation Revelstoke
  • Train and manage volunteers to assist with monitoring
  • Process and format data collected following robust scientific methodology
  • Compare data collected to previous observations
  • Complete a short summary report demonstrating key findings
  • Create a framework for a long-term monitoring project
  • Share findings with the local community via social media
  • Attend outreach events to share findings

Skills & Abilities:

  • Background in biology or environmental science
  • Knowledge of local riparian species and ecosystems
  • Experience conducting field-based scientific research, including processing data and report writing
  • Strong verbal and written science communication skills
  • Organized with ability to manage time and work independently 
  • Standard first aid or equivalent, with proof of current certification
