Applications are now open for both the West and East Kootenay 2026 Youth Climate Corps seasons.
Youth Climate Corps is an opportunity to kickstart or further develop your career in climate related fields through multi-month paid contracts.
Over the season, you will receive professional certifications, mentorship, leadership development, and practical work experience. You will help implement meaningful climate solutions in your region while laying groundwork for your own future – all while having fun working with a community of peers. If you are between 17–30 and looking to expand your career opportunities, gain certifications, and have a summer like no other, we want to hear from you!
In 2025, crew members completed wildfire risk reduction projects, undertook water monitoring, dug into local food sustainability initiatives, ran workshops in collaboration with local government, and much more.
“This program is really valuable and an amazing way to build work experience. I think that it is the perfect program for someone starting out in the environmental field. I also really valued this experience and am extremely grateful for the opportunity,” shared 2025 crew member Bronte Elphick-Miner.
Spend your summer working alongside other young adults on engaging and impactful climate-resilient projects in the Kootenay region as part of the Youth Climate Corps!
Youth Climate Corps programs in BC’s Columbia Basin region are a partnership between Wildsight and Youth Climate Corps BC. For opportunities elsewhere in BC, visit the Youth Climate Corps BC website.
