Kimberley, BC — September 19, 2026 will mark a cinematic celebration unlike any other. Wildsight Kimberley Cranbrook’s Summit Screening has been selected as the North American winner of the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival’s 50th Anniversary World Tour Host Contest, chosen for its creativity, community spirit, and unforgettable mountain setting.
Set high atop Kimberley Alpine Resort, part of the Resorts of the Canadian Rockies (RCR) family and known for its strong community support and unique in-town location nestled between the Purcell and the Rocky Mountains. The Summit Screening will transform the summit of Northstar Mountain into a glowing open-air theatre.
Guests will begin their journey at the base plaza, exploring a local art installation. As golden hour sets in, they’ll ascend the chairlift toward a breathtaking mountaintop venue illuminated by string lights and stars. The evening will feature live music, thoughtfully prepared food, and a specially selected program of Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival 50th Anniversary films.
The event will immediately follow the 5th anniversary KORE Summit, a gathering that celebrates outdoor innovation and sustainable enterprise, providing a natural collaboration between organizations that share a passion for sustainability, education and community involvement.
“This event will bring people together to celebrate our local culture alongside films that inspire adventure and protection of the wild places around us,” says Robyn Skare, Communications and Fundraising Coordinator for Wildsight Kimberley Cranbrook. “We are honoured to have been chosen as the North American winner of this exclusive Banff 50th Anniversary Host Contest, among so many creative and inspiring ideas, and we cannot wait to bring the Summit Screening to Kimberley.”
Wildsight Kimberley Cranbrook is currently seeking sponsorship partners to help bring this extraordinary event to life. Those interested are invited to contact Robyn Skare directly.
Further details about the Summit Screening, including ticket information and programming, will be released in early 2026.
