From the UN: “Climate Change is the defining issue of our time and we are at a defining moment. From shifting weather patterns that threaten food production, to rising sea levels that increase the risk of catastrophic flooding, the impacts of climate change are global in scope and unprecedented in scale. Without drastic action today, adapting to these impacts in the future will be more difficult and costly.”

Our next climate event will be held at will be held at the Golden Seniors’ Centre, October 24 at 7 PM.

October 24 is the International Day of Climate Action is a worldwide movement initiated by young people concerned about climate change and global injustice. The environmental consequences include storms, intense drought, heatwaves, rising sea levels, warming of oceans, habitat destruction

On this day, we will show the film: “I am Greta” . The documentary follows Greta Thunberg, a teenage climate activist from Sweden, on her international crusade to get people to listen to scientists about the world’s environmental problems.

After the film, there will be refreshments and a discussion of the interview as well as the climate crisis in general.

And there will be a draw for Greta’s book “The Climate Book”.
