This year’s Earth Day theme is Planet vs. Plastics
We’re partnering with Kootenay Savings Credit Union, Lake Windermere Ambassadors, Groundswell, and a bunch of local businesses to host a giant community clean up and celebrate climate- and eco-friendly action.
Form a team with your friends, family or colleagues to see how much garbage we can clean up from our streets, parks and lakeshore in just a few hours.
Join us on Saturday April 20th to clean up our Columbia Valley.
Cleanup Stations 10am-12pm
Windermere ~ Hopkins Harvest
Invermere ~ Kinsmen Beach
Shuswap ~ Shuswap Band Health Centre
Complimentary refreshments, giveaways, garbage bags and sanitizer will be at each station. Drop off all garbage you collect by 12pm.
Scavenger Hunt
Click here for Scavenger Hunt list. Email a photo of your scavenging to invermere@wildsight.ca for the chance to win some eco-friendly goodies!
And at Kinsmen Beach 12.30pm…
Learn how you can keep Earth greener by making small changes in your kitchen:
- The power of worms in your compost and keeping kitchen scraps out of the landfill. Presented by Groundswell.
- The do’s and don’ts of recycling.
- Keeping your produce fresh longer.
Enjoy some refreshments and celebrate a successful cleanup!
Thank you to Mac-Neil Mowing who will be taking the collected garbage for disposal, and Tim Hortons for refreshments.
