Brian Conrad
Board Chair
Wildsight Regional
Brian Conrad moved to the Kootenays in the mid 1970’s after living in England, the United States, Mexico and Colombia. The grandeur of the region inspired an intensified consciousness of environmental excitement and concerns. As a teacher at Mt. Baker Secondary School in Cranbrook, Brian joined a team of colleagues and ran an Environmental Awareness Program for Grade 11 students for many years. Outdoor skills and recreation, engagement with local environmental issues, and stream stewardship were all integral components of this experiential program. Brian also sat at the Moyie Local Resource Use Planning (LRUP) table with government agencies and industry for many years, cataloguing landscape values and seeking sustainable balances between competing interests. Currently, he is an instructor and career counsellor at the College of the Rockies.
