Kate has been working in the outdoor industry since she was 19 years old: first as a raft guide in Jasper, then as an Outdoor Education Assistant for the University of Alberta, and then as an expedition raft guide on the South Nahanni River in the NWT. She currently lives in Golden, BC, where she works in the summertime for Parks Canada as a hiking guide to the world renowned Burgess Shale UNESCO site. She loves spending time outside with her dog and husband and believes environmental education is a key component for getting future generations to be stewards of nature and to care about the environment.

Kate has a BA in Environmental Studies / Outdoor Education, and an MSc in Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation. Her true passion is getting people outside learning and to enjoy nature in a safe and accessible way.
