Connecting kids to nature and their wild backyards is a big part of what we do at Wildsight. We launched our school-based environmental education program in 2000 and now offer six different programs during the school year and two summer adventures for youth.
We’re honoured to be part of the upcoming national environmental education conference, “Classroom to Communities” this October and are so excited to share that we’ve recently confirmed that Minister of Education Rob Fleming will be joining us.
Recent changes to the BC curriculum emphasize the importance of place-based, inquiry learning and First Peoples Principles of Learning. The Minister will speak to the direction and priorities of the BC Ministry of Education and its commitment to 21-century learning.
“Classrooms to Communities” is being co-hosted by the Canadian Network for Environmental Education and Communication and the Columbia Basin Environmental Education Network from October 18-21. 275 delegates will gather at St. Eugene to promote leadership and mentorship for place-based education and environmental literacy, to share success stories and support best practices and to build greater capacity and collaboration for place-based education.
