Join Wildsight Invermere and Lake Windermere Ambassadors for a BC Rivers Day Celebration!
Our waterways are incredibly important to life as we know it, yet rivers and freshwater ecosystems are among the most at risk ecosystems on the planet. They are threatened by urbanization, pollution, industrial development, invasive species, damming, excessive water extraction and climate change. BC Rivers Day is a much needed opportunity to help increase community awareness about our local waterways through celebration, making a difference for clean water, rivers and communities across British Columbia. Everyone is welcome!
We will be meeting at the Athalmer Boat Launch in Invermere at 10am on September 26th to paddle down the Columbia River past the ecologically significant Columbia Wetlands. This will be a casual, unguided event with the opportunity to connect with others, to discuss the importance of our rivers and ask what we can do to support them. Columbia River Paddle is offering discounted rentals and shuttles at only $50 for boat and shuttle combo, or $20 for just a shuttle with your own boat (taxes additional). Bring a lunch and come prepared for rain or shine. Nothing will keep us off the river on September 26th.
Registration is required here.
