The Rainbow-Jordan Wilderness

The Rainbow-Jordan Wilderness is an undisturbed area of rare Inland Temperate Rainforest, identified and proposed as a protected area in 2017 by the Valhalla Wilderness Society. It is one of only four known hotspots of this ancient ecosystem, providing refuge for many rare and at-risk species. The Rainbow-Jordan Wilderness is situated just north of Revelstoke in the territory of the Sinixt, the stewards of this land (Tmxʷúlaʔxʷ).

The 11,915 hectares are home to monumental cedar trees over 3.5 meters in diameter, as well as a mosaic of important ecosystems including a previously undocumented wetland ecosystem type. The area provides a safe haven for wildlife displaced by human activities, as well as providing climate benefits through carbon capture and storage.

In order to protect this ancient forest, we need your help! Please consider signing the petition, or writing a letter to local decision-makers.
