Car Trunk Sale

On Sunday April 10th, over 60 thrifty individuals attended the Car Trunk Sale at Centennial Park. Hosted by Wildsight Revelstoke and the Columbia Shuswap Regional District, the event functioned as a communal garage sale – allowing 23 people to sell surplus goods to their fellow community members. Trunk treasures of all shapes and sizes were on display, from sporting goods and clothing to home décor. For Graham Casselman, Waste Reduction Coordinator at the Columbia Shuswap Regional District, events like the Car Trunk Sale play an important role in advancing waste reduction at the community level by creating a circular economy in which people are able to purchase used items instead of buying them new. Initiatives like the Car Trunk Sale help to foster more sustainable communities through diverting unwanted items from entering the landfill by rehoming them instead. Thank you to everyone who came out to the event and to all those who helped organize and support it, including: The Columbia Shuswap Regional District, Warner Rentals, the City of Revelstoke and members from the Wildsight Revelstoke Board of Directors.

The event was well received and will be offered again in the future. To provide any feedback for future Car Trunk Sales, contact revelstokeadmin@wildsight.ca.
