Clean Air

Wood Stove Exchange Program

The Ministry of Environment and Wildsight, in partnership with the RDEK and municipalities in the region, offered a Wood Stove Exchange program from 2008-2015. During that time, over 250 old stoves were changed out in the region, with a goal of improving air quality. This program ended in our region in October 2015.

Kootenay Carshare Cooperative

Our branch helped bring the Kootenay Carshare to Kimberley. The Carshare currently has both a truck and car in Kimberley for  member’s use, providing our community with an economical and environmental alternative to private vehicle ownership. In 2015-2016, Wildsight Kimberley Cranbrook prepared a presentation entitled Building A Low Carbon Future, covering the basics of climate science and climate data and details in carbon emissions in Canada, BC, and locally.  Thank you to the Columbia Basin Trust Environmental Initiatives Program for making this project possible.
