Make an impact: Join the Youth Climate Corps

If you’re looking to advance your career opportunities in climate-related fields or want a change from the direction your life is headed now, we want to hear from you! We’re hiring for our Youth Climate Corps, with positions in Kimberley/Cranbrook and in communities across the Regional District of Central Kootenay.

Crew members focus on local solutions to the global climate emergency. We provide you with professional training and certifications, and you take on projects that combat climate change in fields such as forest restoration, food security, energy, ecology, and more, as well as opportunities for leadership, teamwork, and communication. No prior experience or education is required.

Applicants must be between 17-30 at the start of the contract, and be entitled to work in Canada. Apply today

Kimberley/Cranbrook:

Kimberley/Cranbrook Climate Action Technicians will work closely with local partners engaged in community climate action projects. We start the season with a deep dive on employment mentorship and training through Kootenay Employment Services. Then we transition to on-the-ground action in local food recovery and sustainability, wildfire fuel reduction and monitoring, wetland enhancement, and community engagement, and other unique opportunities as the season progresses.

If you like variety, flexibility, working outdoors, and learning a lot of cool skills, this is the position for you.

The Kimberley/Cranbrook season runs May 1st to August 25th, 2023, with the potential for an extension (pending funding and project opportunities).

West Kootenay:

West Kootenay Community Climate Ambassadors will be working across the Regional District of Central Kootenay in communities, and working directly with local governments, organizations and community members. The focus will be on community engagement, working to build public awareness of and participation in local climate programs.

There will also be opportunities to work collaboratively on other in-person projects, such as a hugelkultur bed research project and developing tools to reduce waste in the local economy.

If you like community engagement, working with the land instead of against it, and enjoy the occasional chat with a stranger on the street, this is the position for you.

The West Kootenay season runs May 8th to August 25th, 2023, with the potential for an extension (pending funding and project opportunities).
