Can we keep our mountains wild?

This year, Wildsight celebrates 30 years of protecting wildlife, clean water and wild places. It’s been quite the journey. Our work is part of a continuum, part of the circle of life that never stops spinning, always bringing change and new challenges.

We wouldn’t have accomplished anything over these last years if it wasn’t for you: our members, volunteers, supporters and donors.

Thank you.

Wildsight has thrived for 30 years because of people like you, people concerned with what we see happening to the natural world around us, in our backyards and forests, rivers, mountains and favorite places. We share a love of wild places. We believe in keeping them wild, not just for us, but for the future of all of life.

While there is much to celebrate in the last 30 years, there is much more to do. Even though we’ve shared important victories together, we’ve also seen many things get worse: too many roads slicing up the landscape, uncontrolled motorized recreation and industrial development degrading water quality and fragmenting habitat for caribou, grizzlies, wolverines and all our wildlife. We’re leaving scars on the landscape that will last far beyond our lifetimes.

Special places like the Jumbo Valley and the Central Purcells, the Flathead and Elk Valleys in the Southern Rockies, are at risk. These cherished places need our help today. Will you help us make sure they remain wild and intact for future generations?

Our new federal and provincial governments are talking about protecting wild spaces, about leaving more for nature. We need to seize the opportunity for new permanent protected areas and more connections for wildlife across the landscape, but we can’t do it without you.

Please donate generously today. Help us grow our team on the ground in the Kootenays. There is much work to do and we can’t afford to miss a single opportunity. There are so many threats to wild places that need our attention. Help us stand up for wildlife like caribou, grizzly bears and trout, make sure our rivers and lakes remain clean and clear, that special places in the Rockies and Purcells are protected and that our children learn to love the wild.

Thank you for helping us write the first 30 years of the Wildsight story. We have accomplished a great deal together. With your help, we can do so much more.
