KNOW YOUR NEIGHBOUR: Marion Travis

Vacation-home dweller turned local

Marion grew up in Alberta, but spent much of her leisure time in the Valley, either at her family’s vacation home in Windermere, or at Panorama, falling off the T-bar before racing down the hill with the Nancy Greene ski team. “Many of my most memorable moments have been here in the Valley,” she said, so moving here permanently just made sense. “The Columbia Valley has always been a second home to me. To be able to live here [full-time] is pretty special.”

Botanical Nut in Training

Marion graduated from the University of Victoria in Biology and Environmental Studies and is “a botanical nut in training.” Her budding hobbies leave her excited about the accessibility to all of the beautiful scenery and adventures that surround us here. “Hiking, climbing, botanizing, swimming after work. Yes please!”

Wildsight’s Newest Member

As our newest member (and volunteer!), Marion’s energy is obvious: “I am excited to see where I can offer my time to this community…I can’t wait to jump into summer in the valley and participate in Wildsight’s activities – facilitating connection to and love for our surroundings that provide for us and that we are so deeply a part of.”
